Difficulty level - Easy/medium (You can decide if you’d like a challenge or take it easy!)
Class duration - 4-6 hours
Join us on this full day workshop where you will learn to make a beautiful chunky bangle adorned with charms of your own design. Your workshop will begin with your friendly tutors teaching you how to make your bangle starting with sizing the silver, followed by learning a variety of silversmithing techniques such as shaping, hammering, texturing and soldering.
Once your bangle is made, the really exciting part of the workshop begins! We would love you to choose a personal theme for your charm bangle and even use sentimental items from home to inspire you, such as fabrics, textured paper and other personal elements. You will then be able to make up to ten individual charms for your bangle using a variety of styles including sawn out shapes, gemstones and jump rings.
Some ideas for your charm bangle could be:
A sea scene for the ocean lover, made from hand made charms inspired by sea life and incorporate some sea glass too.
An Egyptian themed bangle using mixed metals, brass and silver. You can also use stamps to mimic their hieroglyphs and incorporate stones like lapis lazuli, malachite and mother of pearl which where all used in ancient Egyptian times.
A travel themed bangle for the ultimate Jett setter. This could include using stones acquired from your favourite destinations and hand made charms inspired by famous landmarks such as, Mount Fuji, the Sydney opera house, the Eiffel Tower and the statue of liberty.
If you have any requests for special stones just let us know via email and we’ll do our best to source them for you at no extra cost.
The silver used in the class is 925 Solid Sterling Silver. This workshop typically lasts around 6 hours in total and is aimed at complete beginners, but those with more silversmithing experience will be able to create more complex charms. This is a very hands-on class. If you normally wear glasses for reading, we recommend you bring these. Please wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes. Long hair must also be tied back. We currently have no strict age limit on classes but please email us before booking a space for anyone under the age of 16 just to confirm this with us. Anyone under the age of 16 must attend with a participating adult.
