6 Week silversmithing course

Our cozy studio situated in the north docks of Liverpool
2.5 hours per week
Small group learning (max 4)
No experience needed — just curiosity

I know how overwhelming it can be to step into a studio for the first time — especially if you’ve never touched a jeweller’s saw or even know what one looks like.

This isn’t a ‘make and take’ session (though we love those too). This is a slower, more intentional kind of course — designed to teach you the real skills behind silversmithing, step by step. We keep things small. Just four students per group. That way, we can guide you properly, gently, and personally — so you finish every week feeling proud of what you’ve made, and confident in how you made it.
This is a proper, step-by-step foundation in traditional silversmithing — taught slowly, kindly, and in a way that sticks with you.

We don’t rely on fancy equipment or shortcuts. Everything we do is built around hand tools, real techniques, and understanding.
You’ll learn how to do things properly — and more importantly, why they work.

I care deeply about how jewellery is taught.
I teach the same way I was taught — slowly, thoroughly, and with kindness.
We don’t rely on fancy studio tools or throwaway results. We focus on the proper techniques that have been used for decades — because when you understand those, you can make anything.

Some of the things we’ll cover - the details that are instrumental to your success:

  • How to hold your saw so it feels comfortable and natural

  • Choosing the right blade for the piece you're working on

  • Why solder sometimes doesn’t flow - and how to spot it before it happens

  • Why we only use hard and medium solder (never paste or easy solder)

  • How polishing actually works (and why we use a motor, not a tumbler)

  • What kind of silver to buy for your own designs - and how not to waste money on the wrong thing

  • Posture, pressure, and angles - the things online tutorials simply can’t teach you

I don’t just demo something once and walk off. I watch you work. I notice how you’re sitting, how you’re holding your tools, what your hands are doing.
If something’s off ,I’ll gently guide you, help you adjust, explain why it matters.

Because I want you to get it. I want you to leave not just with a few lovely pieces of jewellery — but with a solid, confident understanding of how to make more.
On your own. In your space. With tools you actually have.

This course isn’t just about learning silversmithing.
It’s about building your confidence, finding your creative voice, and realising — oh wow, I actually can do this.

And you can. I promise.
